William Thomas Fahrner

September 13, 1950 — August 22, 2021

William Thomas Fahrner, affectionately known as Bill, a resident of Sandwich and a former resident of Naperville, died peacefully on Sunday, August 22, 2021, at his home.

Bill was born on September 13, 1950, in Detroit, Michigan, the second oldest of nine children born to William and Frances (Steinle) Fahrner. He is survived by his wife, Mary-Gwyn (Moloney) Fahrner, his three children: Erica (Ryan) Gorski, Bill (Danielle) Fahrner, and Jamie (Kate) Fahrner, grandchildren: Zoey, Lucy, Aiden, Mason, and Olivia, and his siblings: sisters: Nancy (Cecil) Meskill, Kathy Gore; brothers: David (Cyndie), John, Paul (Jane).  Bill is preceded in death by his parents, William and Frances; brothers, Jim, Tom, and sister Margaret (Parvin).

Bill grew up in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Following graduation from Brother Rice High School, he attended Lawrence Institute of Technology and Wayne State University, later continuing his education in psychology at Naperville Central College.  He spent many years project managing nuclear power plants.

In life, Bill loved to: travel to Port Huron, Michigan spending his days enjoying time on the water and sailing; coaching baseball, basketball, and soccer; cheering on his favorite sports teams: the Michigan State Spartans and the Detroit Red Wings; and volunteering his time to various nature societies.  Bill was also known to be an aspiring chef making his famous zucchini quiche and cheesecake for everyone to enjoy. He was also known as a bit of a jokester, always finding a way to get you to smile whether it was wearing a silly hat or making a quick quip about being the short guy.

While dealing with health issues later in life, Bill enjoyed his days sitting on his front porch listening to the sounds of nature and catching the breeze on his face.
