William "Bill" E. Reinhart

William “Bill” Edward Reinhart, 86, of Sandwich, IL passed peacefully in his sleep Thursday September 10, 2026 at his home. He was born January 19, 1940 in Sandwich, IL to Paul and Margaret (Mall) Reinhart.

Bill grew up with a passion for learning. This passion led him to achieve many goals in life such as obtaining a pilots license, owning his own locksmith business, finding hobbies in woodworking and leather, and his favorite work of all as a gunsmith and avid collector. Along with his work as a locksmith, Bill worked in engineering for CTS Knights Corp until they closed their doors in 2002 and made many friends over his years employed there.

When family came to visit you could be sure you’d be greeted with a “howdy howdy” and sent out the door with a “later gator”. His family fondly referred to him as “Uncle” and he truly lived up to the title. Bill was a role model to many and a staple in the lives of his parents, sister, and nieces and nephews as they grew up. Bill enjoyed spending his mornings at the coffee shop with friends. He made himself available to friends and family and always lent a helping hand or a listening ear.

Bill is survived by his 4 nieces and nephews Jeff Butler of Earlville, IL., Paula (Mike) Nagy of Sandwich,IL., Martin (Pam) Butler of Pea Ridge, AR., and Jane (Joseph) Latham of Sandwich, IL., many great nieces and nephews, even more great-great nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Bonita Butler, 2 nephews John Butler and William “Bill” Butler, and one great niece. 

A memorial visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. - 12:00 P.M. on Friday, September 25, 2026 at Beverage Family Funeral Home, 104 Terry St. Sandwich, IL 60548. A memorial service will begin at 12:00 P.M. with a graveside service to follow out to Oak Ridge Cemetery in Sandwich. Arrangements were entrusted to Beverage Family Funeral Home.
