Vilas Meier

Vilas Arvilla Meier, 92, passed away on November 17, 2022. Vilas was born in 1930 in rural Ridott Township in Stephenson County, IL to Walter H. and Evelyn M. (Dahlmeier) Auer.

Vilas married Robert R. Meier on May 10, 1952 at St. John’s United Church in Freeport, IL. He preceded her on September 18, 1993.

She was a member, an Elder, and former Financial Secretary of First Presbyterian Church in Franklin Grove, IL, where she also taught Sunday School. She was the past president of IL Association of Mutual Insurance Co’s (IAMIC) Auxiliary in 1984. Former officer and member of Franklin Grove Womens Club, where she was a member since 1981. As well as a member of Shady Oaks Country Club for over 40 years.

Vilas was a graduate of Leaf River High School. She worked in the Insurance field for many years.

Vilas is survived by 3 daughters, Carolyn Meier of Sandwich, IL, Marilyn (Richard) Overby of Rochelle, IL and Jean Morris of Rockford, IL; 4 grandchildren, Jason and Kayla Morris, Elizabeth (Chad Sarver) and Kathleen (Steven) Peterson; As well as 5 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Wallace and Russel Auer.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church in Franklin Grove, IL.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2022 from 10:30 – 11:00 A.M. at the First Presbyterian Church, 106 S. Walnut St. Franklin Grove, IL 61031. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 A.M. The interment will follow after the luncheon at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport, IL.
