Thomas G. Zitt, 68, of Yorkville, IL passed away on October 7, 2024.
Tom grew up in Naperville, IL attending St. Peter and Paul grade school and graduated from Benet Academy. He then joined the army with friends and served his country for 4 years.
He met the love of his life, Barbara, and they spent the next 37 years together. They were blessed with 3 wonderful children, Kristopher (from his first marriage), Annika and Kiriahna.
Tom was a valued employee of Cassens Transport Company for over 35 years, retiring in 2020.
He was also an avid Chicago sports fan, with “The Bears” being his favorite, then “The Cubs”. He also loved being at the cabin in St. Germain, Wisconsin. Tom and Barbara spent every summer there since his retirement.
The greatest love was reserved for his family. He was so proud of all his children, and was the best “dad” to many others.
Cancer may have taken him from us, but in true Tom fashion he left very specific wishes for his last day, and how we were to celebrate the life he loved.
Tom is survived by his wife, Barbara; His daughters, Annika Zitt (Ky Hansen) and Kiriahna Stevens and her husband, Bob; Siblings, Jim (Cathy) Zitt, Morgie Zitt, Joe Zitt, Ann (Mark) Kohut, Terry (Sue) Zitt, Tim (Sue) Zitt, Jeanne (Jaime) Keller, Rosy (Dave) Gundersen and Andy (Patrice) Zitt; And obviously numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Mary, and his son, Kristopher.
Tom’s celebration of life will be on Sunday, October 27, 2024 from 11:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M. (Bears Game) at AC’s Pub, 2124 West Galena Boulevard, Aurora, IL 60506. Please wear Bears gear or casual attire.
