Thomas W. VanPutten

Thomas W. VanPutten, 71, of Pontiac, IL passed away peacefully on July 14, 2024.

Tom was born on 4-14-1953 in Patterson, New Jersey. His parents were Walter and Connie VanPutten. Tom married Darlene Hirst in 1981. She passed away in 1999. Tom is survived by 2 stepsons one claimed him as his father John Hirst (Pam) Pleasant Hill, Illinois and Shawn (Ann) Hirst Missouri as well as 5 grandchildren & 8 great grandchildren, sister in laws, nieces & nephews, & many friends.

Tom was in the U.S. Coast Guard for 7 years from 1972 until 1979. Tom worked at many establishments in Pontiac through the years, Humiston Haven Nursing Home, Rent A Center, Tax Company, Futures Unlimited, Inc., The Encore Shoppe, and the PROUD Marketplace. Tom loved music! Tom played the guitar and keyboard, sang karaoke, and enjoyed recording/playing music. He sang karaoke often. 

Tom is proceeded in death by his parents, his true love, his wife, and two brothers, James, & Robert (Bob) , a daughter Melissa, her son, & Gavin.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Livingston County Veterans Assistance in Pontiac, Illinois.

Tom will be very loved & missed by his children & grandchildren.
