Terry Allen Fritsch, 82, of Sandwich, IL, passed away Thursday, July 30th, 2026 at Kishwaukee Hospital in Dekalb, after suffering a stroke.
Born on June 16, 1944, in Sandwich, IL, Terry was the son of Don and Ardath Fritsch. He graduated from Sandwich High School 1962, then attended Illinois College before he was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1966, serving in Vietnam until 1968.
After returning home, Terry worked in construction, spending most of his career with the Laborers Union before retiring from K-5 Construction. A talented athlete, he enjoyed football, basketball, and track in high school and college. He later spent many years bowling, golfing, and especially fishing, a passion he developed as a child with his grandfather. He loved a good catfish breakfast, even after he had to start buying the fish instead of catching it himself. Terry was known for his strong work ethic and early mornings.
He is survived by his children: Bob (Olivia) Eckhardt of Las Animas, CO; Mike (Vicci) Eckhardt of Millsap, TX; Patty (Troy) Cozad of Sugar Grove, IL; and Ronda Eckhardt of Monticello, IN; his brother, Bob (Carolyn) Fritsch of Roscoe, IL; and 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Ardath Fritsch; his wife, Marilyn; and his son, Todd; Grandsons Stephen and Joseph.
There will be a graveside service for Terry and Marilyn at 4 p.m., September 4th, 2026 at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Sandwich, IL.
Celebration of Life will be an Open House Picnic at 510 N Lafayette Street, Sandwich. They have had the home since 1964.
