Sharon Ann Lane (86) of Sandwich, IL died on January 26, 2026. Sharon was born on January 23, 1940, the daughter of Marvin M. and Faroll I. Lindsey. After her mother died when she was very young, she was raised by her step-mother Garnet Lindsey. Sharon graduated from Astoria High School in 1958 and married Jack Lane at the First Church of God in East Peoria, IL on November 27, 1960.

Jack & Sharon raised their family in Sandwich, IL. Sharon loved cooking and was a great cook. She also enjoyed gardening, reading, cross stitch, canning, vacations with family and riding with Jack on his Harley Davidson motorcycle. She loved doing anything with her family!

Sharon worked at Foster & Gallagher in Peoria and later in Sandwich at CTS Knights and Lynn Haskin Elementary School where she served as the school librarian. They hosted AFS & Rotary exchange students when their children were in high school, Edison Santos from Brazil and Karla (Jowett) Leach from Australia. After retirement in the late 1990’s, Jack & Sharon moved to Harrisburg, IL. Following Jack’s death, Sharon moved back to Sandwich to be near her children.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jack, sister Mary Lou Kerr, brother Junior Fagan, her grandson Ashton Phillip Laatz, seven brothers-in-law and six sisters-in-law.

She is survived by her son & daughter-in-law Phillip & Kathy Lane of Sandwich (who were her primary care-givers), her daughter Pamela Laatz and granddaughter Kelsey Laatz both of Palm Bay, FL and “adopted” son Edison (Selene) dos Santos and grandson Pedro. She is also survived by step-granddaughter Shelby (Jose) Contreras, step-great-grandchildren Malayah Corral, and Jaden, Jerry & Jose Contreras of Plano; as well as brother-in-law & sister-in-law Robert & Chali Lane of Harrisburg & sister-in-law, Sue Coltrin of Morton, IL and many, many nieces and nephews.

No services will be held at this time. Cremation rites will be handled by Beverage Family Funeral Home in Sandwich. Sharon’s and Jack’s ashes will be buried together at Sunset Lawn Cemetery in Harrisburg at a later date, with a Celebration of Life and Family Dinner held at that time.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
