Sandie S. Cargill

Sandie S. Cargill, 72, of Franklin Grove, IL, passed away peacefully in her home with family at her side on October 2, 2023. Sandie was born on April 2, 1951, in Dixon, IL, to Kenneth and Modean (Crawford) Mall. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Rochelle, IL, since 1977. Sandie worked in the Law Office of Henry S. Dixon for 38 years, in the emergency room at KSB Hospital for three years, and in the Dixon Sheriff’s Department for almost two years. She also loved helping her husband with his horse-drawn carriage and wagon business. Sandie loved to bake anything. She baked cookies, pies, and decorated cakes. She was called many things, including the “Cookie Fairy,” “Pie Lady,” and, most recently, a “true angel on earth.” She enjoyed baking pies to sell at Pfeiffer Farms Fresh Market and typically baked 20-25 pies per week.

Sandie is survived by her husband, Jim Cargill; two children, David Cargill of Sterling, IL, and Ashley (Tim) Prior of Franklin Grove, IL; seven beautiful grandchildren, Ava, Autry, Allie, Joe, Jackson, Jhett, and Payson; one sister, Nancy (Rod) Paulson of Rockford, IL; one brother, Robert (Stephanie) Mall of Casey, IL. She is preceded in death by her parents and infant son, Justin David, who passed on November 17, 1976.

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 9, 2023, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Beverage-Lyons Family Funeral Home, 601 Richardson Avenue, Ashton, IL 61006. The funeral service will take place the next day, Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a graveside service at the Ashton Cemetery.
