Rosella M. Warner (Gonnerman)

Rosella Mildred Warner, (Gonnerman) 84, of Ashton went peacefully to her heavenly home on Monday, August 1, 2022 surrounded by family following a short battle with cancer. She was a faithful woman who loved the Lord, her family, and community.

On May 8, 1938 Rosella was born in Sublette, IL to Glenn and Vera (Gleim) Gonnerman. She attended and graduated as valedictorian from Ashton High School. Rosella married Lyle A. Warner on February 16, 1958, were blessed with four sons and they recently celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary.

Rosella was a gifted musician and played the piano and organ for over 60 years at many churches and music events around the area including St. John’s & Redeemer Lutheran Churches, Ashton, the United Methodist Church in Ashton,  and St. Paul Lutheran Church in Rochelle. Until just a few years ago she taught the love of music to numerous piano students in the nearby communities.

She was a member of the Lee County Home Extension and was an active partner in the family farming business with her husband, Lyle. She had a passion for farm life, running the grain cart, marketing grain, and managing the books. An avid sports’ fan was Rosella - she especially loved the Chicago Cubs, Bulls, and Bears.

Rosella will be greatly missed by her loving family: husband Lyle Warner; sons, Scott (Sandy) Warner, Apex NC; Jeff (Khristy) Warner, Ashton, IL; Brad (Kim) Warner, Ankeny, IA; Matthew Warner, Galesburg, IL along with her 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother Loren (Linda) Gonnerman Ashton, IL.

Please join us in celebrating Rosella’s life on Thursday, August 4, 2022 for a visitation at Beverage-Lyons Family Funeral Home in Ashton, IL from 6-8pm.  The funeral service will be held on Friday, August 5, 2022 at 10:00am at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1415 10th Ave. Rochelle, IL, with Rev. Gregory Hoffmann officiating. Visitation will also be held at the Church at 9:00am with a graveside service at the Ashton Cemetery.

Memorials will be given to Ashton Fire and Rescue, Serenity Hospice and Home, and St. Paul Lutheran Church, Rochelle.
