Roger I. Weiss

Roger (Buddy) I. Weiss Jr., 81, a lifelong resident of Yorkville, IL died suddenly on Friday, March 24, 2023 at Hillside Rehab in Yorkville. Roger was born on September 18, 1941, the son of Roger and Christine (Riis) Weiss, Sr.

Roger was united in marriage on November 20, 1965 in Newark, IL to the former Carol Irvin and they spent the next 57 years of their lives together. Roger could be seen all over town either on his motorized scooter or one of his old cars.

Roger left high school in 1958 and joined the Navy, where he spent 6 years. He retired in 1965 upon injury.

In his younger days, Roger, or Buddy to some, worked at Model Box. He was a bus driver for many years when he retired. Everyone could count on him to “fix” anything that was broken, especially his wife’s necklaces. He will be greatly missed by all!

Roger is survived by his wife, Carol of Yorkville, IL; Daughter, Sarah (Jay) Medin of Sautee, GA; Sons, Brian (Sharon) Weiss of Casselberry, FL and Jason (Jen Stahl) Weiss; Grandchildren, Dean (Mallory) Merchant of Yorkville, IL, Kelly (Taylor) Barrett of Dahlonega, GA, Chad (Kaitlyn) Weiss of Orange City, FL, Gwen and Anna Weiss of Casselberry, FL, Carmen (Dylan) Adams of West Chicago, IL, Chapel Weiss of Sandwich, IL; Great grandchildren, Mabel and Marleigh of Yorkville, IL and Oakley and Boyd Barrett; As well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 30, 2023 from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Beverage Family Funeral Home, 104 Terry Street, Sandwich, IL 60548. Funeral service will be held on Friday, March 31, 2023 at 10:30 A.M. at the Emmanuel Baptist Church, 701 Lions Road, Sandwich, IL 60548. Graveside services will follow out to Elmwood Cemetery in Yorkville, IL. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Beverage Family Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at www.beveragefamilyfh.com
