Rodger Pinnick

Rodger G Pinnick, Steward, was born on 6/25/61 in Rochelle IL to Donald and Loretta Pinnick. He passed away surrounded by his devoted family on August 17th, 2025.

Anyone who knew Rodger knew he was a kind and generous person with a fantastic sense of humor. In July he celebrated his 42nd wedding anniversary with his wife, Renee, with whom he shared 3 children and 6 grandchildren - his pride and joy. Rodger was an exceptional family man. He took pride in being a hard worker and providing for his family both materially and emotionally. His devotion, love, strength, and humor set an example worthy of imitation.

Rodger grew up in Steward and ended up spending most of his adult life just outside of town. Although he did see much of the country while traveling on his Honda Goldwing over the years, Steward was always an area he had many fond memories of and still enjoyed.

Rodger had a passion for exploring the land and finding Native American artifacts. He also loved maintaining his country acreage, which includes a small pond where his family regularly gathers to fish and play. Engines were always of interest to Rodger, especially Subarus, and motorcycles of many kinds. Whether it was restoring an FJ40 Land Cruiser, cleaning up an old dirt bike, or customizing a golf cart for use around the yard, he enjoyed tinkering on projects in his workshop while listening to a variety of music. Just as important to him was quiet time for reflection, as he was a deep thinker. These moments sometimes resulted in his writing lovely and thoughtful poems, often about his beloved grandchildren.

But his favorite times were summer evenings when all the kids and grandkids were spending time together playing with Grandma and Grandpa on the property he worked so hard for.

Rodger is preceded in death by his father Donald Pinnick. Among many who will miss him daily are his mother Loretta, brother Robert (Peggy) Pinnick, and sister Valerie (Richard) Hay, and his loving wife Renee (Cook), daughter Aubry (Tracy) Zimmerman, son Trevor (Andrea) Pinnick, and daughter Kelsey (Jonathan) Martineau. His grandkids, who adored him, are Tiger Lily, Warren, Wells, Wynne, Timber, and Walker.

Rodger is gone too soon. He was still a young man on the inside, although his body failed him. But even in his last weeks and days, he never lost who he was at heart: an incredibly strong individual who stuck with his family with fierce determination. His legacy will remain even though he is gone. We’ll see you again soon, Dad.
