Richard Louis Hodous

Richard Louis Hodous, 89, of Sandwich, IL passed away on April 10, 2026. Richard was born on June 19, 1936 in Hinsdale, IL to Miles and Grace (Crosby) Hodous.

Beloved husband to the late Carolyn (nee Dachenhaus) Hodous. Richard and Carolyn were united in marriage in 1967.

Richard proudly carried on his father's legacy, taking over the family business, Hodous & Sons Masonry, where he worked as a skilled and dedicated bricklayer. He had a deep love for outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, and was rarely seen without a loyal dog by his side.

Richard built a cherished summer home on Lake Kabetogama in northern Minnesota, where he spent countless hours fishing, hunting and working on his house. He also found great joy in gardening, taking pride in growing fresh vegetables every year.

He lived a long and fulfilling life, doing all the things he loved most and creating lasting memories along the way.

Richard is survived by his two children Richard "Mike" (Ashley) & Kathryn (Jason) Oganovich; his three grandchildren Tayler (Jake) Marshall, Madeline and Jason Oganovich Jr. and his three great grandchildren Hunter, Kacey & Bennett Marshall.

He is preceded in death by his parents Miles and Grace (nee Crosby) Hodous; also by his four siblings, Susan (Charles) Johnson, Penelope (Warren) Steinbach, James "Jimmy" (Nancy) Hodous and Betty (James) Riedy.

A memorial service will take place at a later date.
