Richard “Dick” M. Spoula

Richard Miles Spoula “Dick”, age 94, resident of LaSalle, Illinois VA Home passed peacefully away Friday, September 25, 2026. Dick was born June 4, 1932 in Chicago. He is the son of Joseph and Margaret (Vladyk) Spoula. He resided in the Chicagoland area along with Alamogordo, New Mexico where he has made many friends that he loved dearly.

Dick was a veteran of the US Navy serving in the Korean War aboard the USS Wasp and the USS Boxer as an aviation radio technician. After his service his interest continued as an amateur radio operator and was known to family members as his call signs of “N9CQO” and “AI5F” respectively.

He was a Mason, avid White Sox fan, historian, science aficionado and had a deep respect for the US Constitution.

Loving Father of Richard “Skip” (Diane) Spoula of Yorkville, IL, Susan (Stanley) O’Parka of Justice, IL, David (Rhonda) Spoula of North Aurora, IL, Nancy (Hermann) Dekorsi of Arlington Heights, IL, Carol Bolden of Indianhead Park, IL, and was blessed with 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Dick was preceded in death by his wife Betty.

Cremation will take place according to his wishes. Graveside services will be conducted at a later date at Tularosa Cemetery, Masonic area in New Mexico.
