Rhonda Renee Peritore, 57, of Sandwich, Illinois passed away at her home on January 20, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones.
Rhonda was born to Jerry and Elena (Farthing) Rice in Marion, Illinois on January 31, 1968. She married the love of her life, Angelo Peritore, on July 4, 1987. Rhonda was a devoted, loving, and cherished wife to her husband of 38 amazing years. Together they raised three beautiful children. Salvatore (34), who married Alyssa (Mangers) Peritore, Sierra Peritore (28), who married Brady Schanuel, and Shelby Peritore (24). Salvatore and Alyssa gifted Rhonda with her two precious granddaughters, Ava Kay (5) and Addison Renee (1 week) Peritore.
Rhonda’s devotion to her family was led by her Christian faith, that helped guide her through life’s peaks and valleys. She was also a dedicated friend, and to many, considered family.
Rhonda was deeply passionate about her role at the Fox Valley YMCA. She worked as the Billing Specialist, but that title does not capture her impact. Rhonda was present in every YMCA program, known by countless families, and felt by thousands whose lives were made better by her compassion, kindness, and genuine love for others. The unwavering support from the YMCA and SJ Mallein and Associates, where her husband Angelo is employed, was invaluable throughout Rhonda's journey.
Loved ones who passed before her include her grandparents, Stanton and Juanita (Travelstead) Farthing and her parents, Jerry and Elena (Farthing) Rice. Those who live in her honor include her husband, Angelo Peritore; their children, Salvatore and Alyssa Peritore, Sierra Peritore and Brady Schanuel, and Shelby Peritore; their grandchildren, Ava and Addison Peritore; her brothers, Robert and Kris Rice and Rodney and Trevor Rice; her father and mother-in-law Salvatore and Charlene Peritore; and her sisters-in-law, Maria and Lance Weihs and Danelle Wahl. She also leaves behind nieces and nephews whom she cared deeply for: Jenna Gossage, Jessica and Adam Moore, Drake and Lindsay Rice, Evan Rice, Michael, Joe, and Melissa Wahl, Kyle and Devin Boyce, and many great nieces and nephews.
Rhonda’s appreciation for life was unparalleled. She had a kind soul that warmed the hearts of everyone around her. She saw the good in everything and everybody and always lived life as though the glass was half full. Her zest for life was inspiring, and she never took a day for granted. She leaves behind a legacy of kindheartedness, empathy, and acceptance which her family, and many others, promise to carry on.
Per Rhonda’s wishes, there will be no formal services held. Rather, a celebration to honor her magnificent life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Rhonda’s legacy may contribute to the We Love You Rhonda fund held at the Fox Valley YMCA, supporting the community she loved so deeply. Link to donate
While her years were far too few, her impact was profound and she will be dearly missed. Her desire in death, just like her mother’s, is that her family and friends will meet her in heaven.
