Raymond J. Tuma

Raymond J. Tuma, age 87, born on October 10, 1935, passed away on May 9th, 2023. He was born in Aurora Illinois to Raymond & Helen (Krantz) Tuma. He graduated from East Aroura High School in 1954. He went on after high school to The United States Marine Corps and served our country, honorably for 8 years. He returned home after to get his Mechanic career started with Berthal & Hanson, and Fran WebbCadillac.  Raymond moved on to be the proud owner of Ray’s Auto on Lake Steet in Aroura, Illinois to service many special customers for many years.

Whether it was water skiing, playing racket ball or traveling to the beaches of Key West and the Woods of Wisconsin, Raymond lived his life to the fullest. He traveled every Thursday to Pizza Night with his friends, Richard Jiardina (Ducky), Wally May and Chuck & Bonnie Owen. He spent many years working alongside his dear friend, Dave Morman at Dave Mormans AutoRepair in Sandwich, Illinois. Raymond was the king of jokes, teaching his grandchildren the best of the best and telling stories that will continue to be passed down, generation to generation. Each person who knew Raymond, knew how he first and foremost, walked by his Faith and if you sat down with him even for a minute, you would learn an honest life lesson, or two. 

Raymond married the love of his life, and retired to Somonauk, Illinois where they spent many years together. 

He is survived by his wife, Rita Tuma (Wesbrock) of Somonauk; His eldest daughter, Kathy Rubo of Lakeland Florida; Susie (Marty) Nally of Yorkville, Illinois; His son, Dean Tuma of Verbena Alabama. His Grand Children, Shannon Nally, Michael Nally (Alonda) & Zachary Tuma. His children, Joseph (Carrie) Tuma of Naperville Illinois; Shawn (Mark) Barbush of Dyer Indiana and Marissa Tuma (Tim Corry) of Eureka, Illinois. Nephew, Jason Wesbrock (Chris) of Cortland Illinois; Great Niece, Rachel (Lee) Freund and Great- Great Niece, Hazel Freund. His grandchildren, Edward (Katie) Tuma; Travis Seidelman; Nyree Prunedia (Ryan Ward); Charlie Willman (Emma); Logan Barbush; Callie and Caelyn Tuma. His Two great- grandchildren, Kayla and Brody Ward. 

Raymond is proceeded in death by the hands of God, his parents, Raymond and Helen (Krantz) Tuma. His two brothers, Robert & Thomas Tuma; and his son David Tuma. 

Regarding Raymond’s final wishes, there will be no services held.  In lieu of flowers, any donations in Raymond’s name can be made to Saint John’s Baptist Catholic Church in Somonauk, Illinois; Wounded Warrior Project or the donors choice.
