Norma Jean Jacobson

Norma Jean Jacobson, 91, of Hinckley, IL passed away on September 15, 2025. Jean was born on June 24, 1934 in Leitchfield, KY to Carl and Roxie (Carter) Armstrong.

Jean, as she was called by friends and family, spent most of her life in northern Illinois. She graduated from Hinckley High School in 1952, and attended Northern Illinois State Teachers College in Dekalb for 2 years. She returned to school after raising her 4 children, graduating from National College of Education, Lombard, IL campus, in 1981 with a bachelor’s degree, summa cum laude, in Behavioral Science. The Jacobsons retired to their dream home in Blue Eye, Missouri, near Branson, in 1997.

Jean’s husband, LuVerne Jacobson, passed away in March of 2010, and 2 brothers, Carl Thomas Armstrong and Joseph Armstrong, also preceded her in death.

Jean is survived by her 4 children, Valerie Cramer, Barry (Theresa) Jacobson, Dale Jacobson and Lisa Jones; Grandchildren, Jeremiah Jacobson, Amanda (Matt) Lambert and April (Ryan) McNanna; Great grandchildren, Matthew Lambert and Derek Lambert; As well as several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 324 W. McKinley Ave, Hinckley, IL 60520. Burial of Jean’s cremains, as well as LuVerne’s cremains, will take place following the memorial service at Greenwood Cemetery near Hinckley.

The family requests the omission of flowers, with memorials to be given to St. Paul’s United Church of Christ or to the donor’s choice.
