Michael Wade Savage

Michael Wade Savage, 62, of Englewood, Florida, formerly of Sandwich, Illinois, passed away unexpectedly on September 17, 2026. He was born December 15, 1963, in Sandwich, Illinois, to the late Jack and Mildred Savage. He graduated from Sandwich High School in 1982.

On February 2, 1984, Michael married Maxine Anderson. They made their home in the Sandwich area and raised a family together. Maxine’s death from cancer on August 1, 2008, was a profound loss for the family they had built together.

On September 22, 2009, Michael married Liza Mendez-Balisacan. They later moved to Florida and made their home in Englewood.

Michael was a hardworking and determined entrepreneur who spent much of his life building businesses of his own. He began his career working alongside his father in the family roofing business, learning the trade from the ground up before eventually taking over the business himself. Never afraid of a new challenge, Michael’s entrepreneurial spirit extended beyond roofing when he became the owner and operator of the Pizza Shack in Newark, Illinois.

After moving to Florida in 2013, Michael opened a small family restaurant, Blossom. He purchased W.R. Carlson Roofing Specialists, Inc., which he operated until his retirement.

Michael was also a dedicated Chicago sports fan and remained loyal to his hometown teams throughout his life.

Michael is survived by his wife, Liza Savage of Englewood, Florida; his children, Stacy (Randy) Kuntz of Newark, Illinois, Noah Savage of DeKalb, Illinois, and Jack Savage of Englewood, Florida; his stepchildren, Kristy (Michael) Elliott of Sandwich, Illinois, Shane Balisacan, and Eralin Balisacan of Englewood, Florida; his grandchildren, Nathan (Lizzy) Littlejohn, Audrey Kuntz, Waylon Kuntz, and Kaylee Kuntz; his great-grandchildren, Theo, Zeke, and Annie Littlejohn;

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Mildred Savage; his wife, Maxine Savage; his sister, Janice Savage; and his brother, Larry Savage.
