Marlene Ann Blair

Marlene Ann Blair, 70, of Ottawa, Illinois passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loved ones. She was a cherished wife, mother, grandma, sister, and friend to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Marlene departed from this world on Sunday, March 10, 2024. She left behind a legacy of love and kindness that will forever be remembered. Her genuine smile and compassionate nature endeared her to all who crossed her path, and her absence will be deeply felt by her family and friends.

Marlene was born to Benny and Eleanor (Engel) Boswell on August 26, 1953, in Ottawa, Illinois. She attended Wallace Grade School and Ottawa High School. Marlene worked for Fashionaire and Handy Foods where she later retired.  During much of her childhood, Marlene enjoyed helping her dad work on muscle cars. She took a particular interest in Chevelles. As an adult, she loved going to bingo with her mom, and she would go on to share this love with many future generations.

Marlene married the love of her life, Donnie Blair, on November 17, 1978. Together they embarked on a journey filled with love, laughter, and a countless number of cherished memories. Their bond was a testament to the power of enduring love, inspiring all who knew them. They enjoyed the outdoors, traveling to Kentucky, and playing baseball with their children and grandchildren.

Above all, Marlene’s greatest joy in life was her family. She poured her heart and soul into nurturing and supporting her loved ones, always putting their needs before her own. Her unconditional love knew no bounds, and her family was her world. May her legacy inspire us to cherish our loved ones and spread happiness wherever we go.

Marlene is survived by her devoted husband of 45 years, Donnie Blair; her beloved children, Amy (Nick) Goolsby, Lee (Amanda) Blair, and Ben Blair; step-children, Sam Holcomb, Linda Martin, and Christin Howard; grandchildren, Lainey (Jared) Mason, Cole Goolsby, Carter Goolsby, Halleigh Blair, and a great-granddaughter due in July; siblings, Tommy (Sharon) Boswell, and Connie (Art) Donovan; and a host of family and friends who will forever cherish her memory.

She is preceded in death by her parents Benny and Eleanor (Engel) Boswell; maternal grandparents, Charles and Delia Engel, and paternal grandparents, Goldie and Walter Brodbeck, and George Boswell.
