Marie Catherine Lorenz

Marie C. (Haake) Lorenz, 96 years old, died at her home in Somonauk on Thursday, October 14, 2021, surrounded by family and friends. She was born on January 1, 1925 in Joliet to the late Francis and Margaret (Bertoglio) Haake, known to all as Ma and Pa.

Marie married the late Robert (Bob) Lorenz, Sr. on May 6, 1945 in Aurora where she lived for over 70 years. She retired from R & M Kaufmann and spent time with her family and friends traveling and camping, doing her final July 4^th camping trip this year. Marie was active in the VFW Auxiliary and is a past president of the Batavia Overseas VFW Auxilliary #1197.

She is survived by one son, Larry (Robin) Lorenz of Somonauk, two daughters, Linda Lorenz of Somonauk and Barbara Rodgers of Columbia, MO. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren with another on the way. She has numerous nieces and nephews throughout the United States that she loved.

In addition to her parents and husband, Marie was preceded in death by her oldest son, Robert (Butch) Lorenz, Jr., three brothers, Ludwig, Louis, and Billy Haake and four sisters, Evelyn Hansen, Patricia Coleman, Viola Camfield, and Cecelia Burks.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 from 9:00 – 11:00 A.M. at Beverage Family Funeral Home, 104 Terry Street Sandwich, Illinois 60548. Funeral service will held at 11:00 A.M. with a graveside service to follow out to Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Aurora, Illinois.
