Margaret (Peggy) A. Gaul

Margaret (Peggy) A. Maurer Gaul, 89, of Macomb, IL, passed away June 17, 2022. She was born on September 19, 1932, in Plainfield, NJ to the late Albert and Anne E. (Yawger) Maurer.  Peggy worked in New Jersey and Illinois for the Girl Scouts of America before her retirement in Sandwich, IL and Macomb, Il. With her late husband, Terry Gaul, she ran long-distance races throughout the country. 

 

An avid traveler, Peggy made several trips to Switzerland to visit family cemeteries. She also served as the family’s historian, researching ancestral details and labeling photographs. 

 

Peggy is survived by her loving nieces and nephews, William (Carla) Smart, Cathy (Steve) Trammel, Barbara (Tim) McGregory and Timothy (Robin) McCune.

 

She was predeceased by her sisters Helen "Jane" Smart and Mary Elizabeth McCune, a brother Edward Maurer, and her niece Jan Smart.
