Margaret “Muggs” M. Valley

Maggie was born on November 5, 1942, in Murray, Kentucky to Jesse Lovett and Ina Faye Eldridge (Cole). She moved to Plano, IL as a child. Her high school days were spent at Plano High School in Plano, IL. She spent the next years of her life raising her two boys and two stepchildren. Margaret attended beauty school in the 1970s and opened her first business, Bella Boutique, shortly thereafter. A career that spanned over 50 years. In 1996 she married Wayne S. Valley. Together they built the building at 421 East Church Street, where they relocated Bella Boutique and built Mugger’s Coffee House and Maggie’s Dejavu as well.

Maggie is survived by her husband of 30 years, Wayne Valley, sister Dora Brown, sons Doug (Vicki) Boring, Todd (Lydia) Boring, children by marriageWayne (Amy) Valley, Angela (Alan) Wies, Aaron (Amy) Valley and Charlie Redman. Grandchildren Joseph Boring, Douglas Boring, Nancy Boring, Christine Boring, grandchildren by marriage Adam Wies, Ashley Wies, Aubrianna Valley, Avery, Valley, Cooper Valley, Aiden Gibbons, Liam Gibbons and Dylan Gibbons, and one great grandchild Brandon Boring. She is preceded in death by her mother Faye Cole, brothers Bobbie Ratterree, Billy Ratterree and sister Juanita DeBrun.

She loved frequenting the local thrift stores and traveling. Her traveling days included numerous trips to Las Vegas with her sisters and 18 sailing excursions to the Caribbean with her husband, Wayne. She even learned to water ski at the age of 50. She was always up for an adventure.

“Muggs” was known by all to be a very selfless person. Her humble, kind and hard-working spirit was her trademark. She loved her family more than anything and treated everyone she met with kindness, love, and respect. Maggie took pride in everything she did and taught us to never to give up. She was a true role model for her children and grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on October 1, 2026, from 10:00am-11:00am, located at Beverage Family Funeral Home, 104 Terry Street, Sandwich, IL. A memorial service will follow at 11:00am at the same location. Burial will take place following the memorial at Little Rock Cemetery, 14733 N. Center Street, Plano, IL. A luncheon to follow at the Village Courtyard, 120 W. Market Street, Somonauk, IL.
