Karen L. Hatton

Karen Lynn Hatton passed away on December 2, 2025. She was born on December 21, 1958, in Aurora, IL. To John and Delores Houlne. She attended and graduated from Newark High School in 1978.

In her younger years Karen worked at AT&T, CTS Knights and Millers Grocery store. She spent the remainder of her career at Wal-Mart Plano, IL. where she held various positions. She worked in the deli, department manager, certified pharmacy tech and a cashier. She retired from Wal-Mart in August 2025 after working there for 29 years.

Some of Karen’s favorite memories are her family vacations in Wisconsin as a child. She also enjoyed watching her sons and grandsons play sports, and attending church with her grandson’s at Harvest Chapel in Sandwich, Il. Karen also loved collecting hummingbird figurines and decorative bells.

On November 8, 1980, she married the love of her life Ron. They spent the next 42 years raising three sons. Before his passing in July 2022.

Karen was loving and caring and touched so many people’s lives. She was many things to many people. She was a daughter, mother, sister, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, sister-in-law, aunt, niece and friend. She was also a caregiver, taking care of her husband and family for many years. She was loved by many and will be missed by all.

She is survived by her three sons. Karl (Kimberly) Hatton of Somonauk. David Hatton of Sandwich and Richard (Kelly) Hatton of Somonauk. Four grandsons Kyle, Austin, Karter and Bryson. Two great granddaughters, One brother Robert (Marilyn) Houlne of Leland and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ronald Hatton, her parents John and Delores Houlne, her sister Debbie Houlne and her twin brother Kenneth Houlne.

A visitation will be held on Monday, December 8, 2025 from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Beverage Family Funeral Home, 104 Terry St. Sandwich, IL 60548. A funeral service will be held next day, Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at 10:30 A.M. at the funeral home with a graveside service to follow out to Pratt-Oaklawn Cemetery in Sandwich, IL.
