Judith “Judy” Lee Calhoun (nee Alviani), 66, of Chicago, IL passed away due to complications of COVID-19 on Tuesday January 18, 2022 at St. Catherine’s Hospital in East Chicago, IN. She was born to Ernest and Frances Alviani on August 10,1955 in Chicago, IL in the front bedroom of her childhood home.

Judith was united in marriage to Dennis Dean Calhoun on February 23, 1990.

Judith was an avid learner and was an extremely hard working woman who held many careers over the years. One of her careers was as an over the road truck driver with her husband where she achieved over 1 million accident free miles of driving. Her true passion was being an entrepreneur and she always ran several home based businesses. She earned a business degree and had the unique privilege to walk across the stage at graduation together with her daughter Janene T. Mensing. She also enjoyed caring for and rescuing animals in her spare time and was a supporter of the ASPCA and PAWS Chicago.

Judith is survived by her husband of 31 years Dennis Calhoun; her daughter Angela (Dean) Farley of Sandwich, IL; her son Richard (Mary) Stahl of Lansing, IL; her brother Frank (Alice) Alviani of Waukegan, IL; she also leaves behind a niece, 2 nephews, 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren as well as friends and her beloved pets.

She was preceded in death by her parents Ernest V. and Frances E. Alviani; first husband Richard W. Stahl; daughter Janene T. Mensing (nee Stahl) and an infant grandson Shawn C. Mensing Jr.

A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date for friends and family. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be sent to the ASPCA or your local no-kill animal shelter.
