John R. Swander Sr.

John R. Swander Sr., 84, of Sandwich, IL passed away at his home on December 21, 2024. John was born on February 21, 1940 in Benton Harbor, Michigan.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Sharon (Mifflin) Swander; Father of John R. Swander Jr. (Julie Tammel), Thomas C Gebhardt and Martin J. Gebhardt (Lindsey); Grandchildren, Aaron (Meghan) Swander, Lena Swander, Aubrey, Raelynn, Thomas and Clayton Gebhardt, Evan. Ariana, Aaleigah Gebhardt, Alana and Amara Bowen; Nephew, Brian (Melaine) Swander; Two very special “Little Buddies” and always his ray of sunshine Harper and Hailey Brotan: As well as several cousins and relatives in Michigan.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Robert K and June (Taylor) Swander; Brother, David Swander and his wife Mary.

Graveside services will be held in the spring, in Kalamazoo, Michigan next to his parents.

John’s family would very much appreciate donations made in his name to the Sandwich Branch of TransVac.
