Joel Kenneth Skinner, 60, of Sandwich, IL passed away June 24, 2025, at home.
Joe was born December 4, 1964, to Robert Stephen Skinner and Joyce Lorraine Randall in Sandwich, IL.
Joe was an alumnus of Yorkville High School, graduating in 1983. He also matriculated from the Indian Valley Vocational Center Machine Trades program. Joe practiced his trade as a machinist for his entire professional life.
Joe married Karen Sue Womack in 1986. They had two children—Jon and Michelle—and were married for 38 years.
Joe’s main love was being with his wife, Karen, on their many adventures, plenty of which were taken while riding motorcycles. He was also a tinkerer, customizing things to be motorized that probably should not have been, and he enjoyed all things related to cars and motorcycles, including the racing of both. He also had a great love for the family pets, even if he initially voted against adding another furry member to the family.
Joe is survived by his wife, Karen Sue Skinner; his children, Jon Robert (Shauntel Seaton) Skinner and Michelle Ann (Tim Johnson) Skinner; and his granddaughter, Claire Delle Johnson. He is also survived by his four siblings: Lyle (Ruth Glen) Skinner; Sharon Skinner (Joe) Chase; Steven (Luise Belmont) Skinner; and Scott (Barbara) Skinner.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Joyce Skinner.
Visitation will be held July 2 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Beverage Family Funeral Home, 104 Terry Street, Sandwich, IL 60548. Internment will be held privately. The Skinner family also invites friends and family to join them for a celebration of life July 5 at 410 Joles Street in Sandwich. Join Joe’s family and friends while we watch Joe’s beloved Fourth of July parade. Please arrive between 9:30 a.m. and 10 a.m., bring a chair, a cherished memory of Joe, and dress casually.
Donations in Joe’s honor can be made to the Tails Humane Society.
