Jeffery Lynn Olson 75, of Sandwich, passed away at his home on October 29, 2018 with his loving family by his side. He was born on December 20, 1942 to Elmer and Cora (Duvick) Olson.
Jeff grew up in Newark, IL and moved to Delavan, WI at the age of 16. He graduated from Stout State University in Menomonie WI with a degree in Industrial Technologies. He worked at Caterpillar for 37 years, both in Aurora, IL and Mentor, OH.
Jeff was very creative and had many hobbies; oil painting, building furniture, stained glasswork, sign painting, Norwegian rosemaling and kolrosing. He was a gifted wood carver after retirement, winning awards at international carving shows. He was as avid do-it-yourselfer and a diehard Green Bay Packers fan.
Jeff loved his grandchildren, Griffin and Avery, particularly teaching Griffin to drive and sharing his passion for art with Avery.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Alice (Deveraux); Daughters Allison Olson and Cory (Michael) McCarthy; son Jonathan (LeAnne Freeland) Olson; Grandson Griffin J. McCarthy; Granddaughter Avery McCarthy; 2 nieces Patti Shute and Jeri Wilhelmi; nephew Michael (Sharon) White; and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Cora Olson; sister Lorraine White; brother-in-law James White; and nephew-in-law Arthur Wilhelmi.
Memorial visitation will be held on November 9, 2018 at the Platteville United Methodist Church from 10:00 a.m.- 11:00a.m. with Memorial service to follow at 11:00 a.m. with Terry McLaughlin officiating. Burial of the inurnment will follow at the Platteville Cemetery.
