Janet Arlene (Ford) Hallstrom, 89, of Sandwich, IL, was welcomed to heaven by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 11, 2023. Janet was born to Lawrence Russell Ford, Sr. and Mary Ann (Wallis) Ford of Sandwich, at Woodward Memorial Hospital. She graduated valedictorian of the class of 1951 from Sandwich Township High School. Janet married Thomas Hal Hallstrom on June 2, 1951, and they enjoyed 48½ years of marriage. She was a homemaker, did bookwork for Hallstrom Landscape Service, and worked in the kitchen at Dickson Valley Camp and Retreat Center. They were involved in serving Jesus Christ at both Somonauk Baptist Church and Emmanuel Baptist Church of Sandwich. Janet sang in choir; taught Sunday school and children's church; worked in Vacation Bible School, Pioneer Girls, and AWANA; worked in the church library; served on the Christian Education board; and typed missionary newsletters for Mary Jane Gardner.

She was preceded in death by her parents Lawrence and Mary Ford; her husband, Thomas Hallstrom; a son, Mathew Hallstrom; two siblings, Lawrence (Russell) Ford, Jr. and Audrey Hurley; three sisters-in-law, Eldonna Ford, Elaine Ford, and Elizabeth Hallstrom; and three brothers-in-law, James Hurley, Richard Jones, and Richard Hallstrom.

Janet is survived by six children: Melodie (David) Dean of Sandwich, IL; April (Timothy) Young of Plano, IL; Beverly (Stephen) Breunig of Grapevine, TX; Pamela (Howard) Harris of Seminole, FL; George Hallstrom of Rockledge, FL; Philip Hallstrom of Phoenix, AZ, as well as 15 grandchildren: Ruth (Brian) Garcia, Rebekah (Jack) Clark, Thomas (Amanda) Dean, Joshua (Verloyn) Young, Caleb (Hayley) Young, Josiah (Andrea) Young, Priscilla (Timothy) Hoots, Lindsey (Alec) Rodriguez, Danielle (Wesley) Frazier, Kathryn Harris, Violet (Zachariah) Ahrenholtz, Oakley (Rachel) Hallstrom, Lily Hallstrom, Landrew (Hailey) Hallstrom, Seth Hallstrom and 29 great grandchildren and two siblings: Robert Ford of Somonauk, IL, and Maryann Jones of Adamstown, MD.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
