James (Jim) J. Rozsypal

James (Jim) J. Rozsypal, 86, of Sandwich, IL and Sun City West, AZ, passed away on April 13, 2023. Jim was born on August 19, 1936 in Chicago, IL to Erv and Sophie (Moczarny) Rozsypal. Jim married Sandra Piaskowy on June 21, 1958 in Chicago, IL.

Jim served in the United States Army. He then went on to work for 30+ years in the International Union of Elevator Constructors Local Number 2. He was an avid Drag Racer of Nostalgia Mopars, was a part of Silver Springs Chapter AACA and was a member of multiple car clubs in Illinois and Arizona. He also enjoyed playing cards. Jim was a member of both St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Sandwich and Prince of Peace in Sun City West.

Jim is survived by his wife, Sandra Rozsypal; Children, James (Marilyn) Rozsypal of Lake Forest, IL, Joseph (Jennifer) Rozsypal of Leland, IL, Sandra (Jeff) Osgood of Wickenburg, AZ, Juliana (Larry) Rader of Somonauk, IL; Grandchildren, James, Matthew, Joseph, Jadelynn, Jacob, Alex, Clint, Anastasia, Josephine and Luke; 1 great grandchild due in August; Brother, Robert (Shirley) Rozsypal of Burr Ridge, IL; Brother-in-law, Jerry (Patricia) Piaskowy of St. Charles, IL; And a sister-in-law, Nancy (Curt) Hozian of Kildeer, IL.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Jim loved his children, their spouses and his 10 grandchildren more than life itself. He cherished every school event, sporting event, vacation, car show and any other time he got to spend with them. He was so proud of all of his grandchildren and their accomplishments.

Jim loved speed, whether it was drag racing, speedboats or muscle cars. He loved partnering with his son Joe in their nostalgia drag racing and driving his Mopars to local car shows including Johnny K’s.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 24, 2023 from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Beverage Family Funeral Home, 104 Terry Street, Sandwich, IL 60548. Funeral mass will take place next day, Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 340 W. Arnold St., Sandwich, IL 60548. Interment will follow out to St. Paul’s Catholic Cemetery in Sandwich, IL. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Beverage Family Funeral Home.
