Hermina "Mickey" Leuring

Hermina "Mickey" Leuring, born in Chicago, IL on September 7, 1936, to parents Emma Pol Leuring and Henry Leuring, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2026.

Mickey's life was defined by extraordinary strength, resilience, and devotion to her family. On June 27, 1953, she married Robert Joseph Heidenblut. Widowed at a young age, she showed remarkable determination. Armed with very little money, a heavy dose of frugality, and a true talent for thrifting, she kept her family together through challenging times.

She was deeply proud of her self-sufficiency--a fierce independence that ultimately allowed her to achieve the proud milestone of purchasing and residing in her own condo in Downers Grove, IL.

When her children were grown, Mickey pursued her own educational goals. In the 1980s, she earned her high school diploma, followed by an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Human Services in 1992. Her compassionate nature and dedication led her to a fulfilling career working with Catholic Charities for many years.

Proud of her Dutch heritage, Mickey loved to travel and cherished visiting her family in Holland. She also had a tremendous love for animals, especially her adored Irish setter, Cassidy. Above all, her greatest joy and accomplishment was her family. Mickey was a God-fearing woman and a longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Downers Grove, IL.

Mickey was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert; Her daughter, Patricia; Her grandson, John; Her son-in-law, Ron; Her parents, Emma and Henry; Her sister, Bertha; And her brother, Harry.

She is lovingly remembered by her children:
Linda Torres (Alfredo)
Debra Kupec (Gary Kosvick)
Joseph Heidenblut (Jody)
And a bonus daughter Dianna Saracco Farish

She was a proud Grandma to Anthony, Tiana, David (April), James, Morgan (Bee), Dana (Ken), and Jamee (Chris), as well as a loving great-grandmother to Serenity and Evelyn. She is also survived by her niece, Marion, and her children, along with many dear friends.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Details will be shared once they are finalized.
