Elaine Fitzpatrick

Elaine Fitzpatrick was born on July 17, 1929, in Oak Park, Illinois, to Joseph and Rose Schutter. She attended St. Giles Grammar School and Trinity High School. She married the love of her life, William Francis Fitzpatrick, at St. Giles Parish in Oak Park in 1956.

Elaine devoted her life to her family, raising seven children with love, patience, and unwavering dedication. She had a lifelong passion for gardening and horticulture and several years she volunteered and worked at Triton College, where she lovingly tended the campus gardens. Her passion drove her to earn her associate’s degree in Horticultural Design after her sixtieth birthday. Elaine also volunteered with the Lake Holiday Flower Club and took great pride in helping beautify her community.

She cherished her many friendships, enjoyed playing cards, watching movies, shopping and delighted in gathering with family and friends, often over meals at her favorite local Mexican restaurant. Her warmth, kindness, and infectious spirit touched the lives of all who knew her. Elaine was also passionate about her faith and was active in her commitment to St. John the Apostle Parish

Elaine was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William; her sister, Florence; her brother, Richard; and her son, Michael.

She is survived by her children, Rosanne (Edward), Eileen Salamone (Joseph, deceased), William (Julie), Thomas (Arlene), Joseph (Brenda), and Richard (Linda).

She was the proud grandmother of sixteen grandchildren: Ryan, Matthew, Kristin, Gina Salamone, Thomas Salamone, Jacob, Dana Fiandra, Rachel Ott, Colin, Rowan, Conor, Bryan, Liam, Emily, Maggie Leavitt, Richard.

Elaine was also blessed with four great-grandchildren: Maddison, Sophie, Mabel, Henry.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lake Holiday Garden Club.

The family wishes to extend its heartfelt gratitude to the staff of St. Patrick's Residence for the exceptional love, compassion, and care they provided to Elaine during her stay. Their kindness brought comfort not only to Elaine, but to her entire family.

Elaine's legacy of love, generosity, faith, and devotion to family will be treasured and remembered always.
