Donald Ray Bedford

Donald Ray Bedford, 71, of Sheridan, Illinois, passed away suddenly at his home on Wednesday, April 29, 2026.

Donald was born on November 23, 1954, in Ladysmith, Wisconsin, to Thomas and Dorothy (Bemis) Bedford. He spent his life appreciating the simple joys-time with family, working with his hands, and being outdoors. He had a love for woodworking and could often be found sitting in his garage on his John Deere Gator, watching the world go by.

Donald cherished time spent with the love of his life, Kay, especially their drives together, keeping an eye out for deer along the way. He also looked forward each year to his Fourth of July family gathering-though he never missed a chance to complain about it, it was a tradition he truly loved.

For many years, Donald worked delivering propane for Arneson Oil & Propane Co. until his retirement, forming lasting connections along his routes.

He is survived by his children: Jeremy (Taira) Bedford, Jamie (Marissa) Bedford, Michelle (Joe) Rockwell, and Amanda (Tyler) Bedford. He is also survived by his brothers: Steve Bedford, Keith (Dawn) Bedford, Barry (Judy) Bedford, and Randy (Liz) Bedford.

Donald leaves behind a legacy of love in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Rayann (Justin), Lane, Corbin, Bryceson, Austin, and Emmalynn Bedford; Joseph, Brianna, Kimoria, Luca, and Theo Rockwell; and Nora and Louis Long. He will also be deeply missed by his many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Garry, and his beloved partner, Kay.

Donald will be remembered as the guy who always had a story, a seat in the garage, and probably an opinion.
