Burdette "Burdie" L. Lundy

Burdette “Burdie” Leo Lundy, 87, of Sandwich, Illinois, passed away Monday, February 16, 2026, at The Pavilion on Main in Sandwich.

Burdie was born on February 21, 1938, in Morris, Illinois, to Martin and Sedell (Olson) Lundy. He grew up on a farm north of Marseilles and graduated from Milton Pope Grade School in 1952. He later attended Newark High School.

Burdie worked for Caterpillar in Montgomery for several years before joining Stahl Road Construction Company as a driver, where he worked until his retirement in 2000. In retirement, Burdie spent several winters in Florida and enjoyed golfing in Sandwich and Plano, playing card games with friends, and never missing the Sandwich Fair.

He is survived by his daughter, Luanne (Gene) Stallings, and his son, Brian Lundy, both of South Carolina; his grandchildren, Brent (Laura) Stallings and Jordan (Samantha) Stallings; his great-grandchildren, Porter, Claire, and Jules; his sister, Delores Eltrevoog of Ottawa; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Phyllis; and his brother-in-law, Orville Eltrevoog.

Memorials may be directed to The Open Door in Sandwich, Illinois, or Bethel Lutheran Brethren Church in Ottawa, Illinois.
