Betty J. Scofield

Betty Jane (Hextell) Scofield, 99, of Sandwich, IL passed away on June 26, 2025. She was born on January 25, 1926 to Melvin and Alma Hextell.

On October 19, 1946 she married Ross H. Scofield at the Helmat Lutheran Church. Ross passed away on October 1, 2007.

Betty is survived by her 3 children, Brian (Ann) Scofield, Patricia (the late Craig) Carter and Carter (Carol) Scofield. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son-in-law and her only sister, Marjorie Beatty.

She and her husband owned Hextell Implement and Scofield Builders in Serena for almost 40 years.

They traveled extensively and enjoyed many groups of friends.

She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church.

Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
