Barbara Jean Charlton

Barbara Jean Charlton, 85, of Plano, IL passed away at her home on September 24, 2018 with her loving family by her side. She was born on December 5, 1932 to the late Thomas and Hazel Wallen in Kewanee, IL. She and Rufus Charlton were united in marriage on August 13, 1949 in Kewanee, IL and were happily married until his passing in 2010.    

She enjoyed the simple things in life. She loved spending time at home, but most of all she loved spending time with family. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. We will always carry her memory in our hearts.   

She is loved and survived by her children- Judy (Joe) Rud of Sandwich IL, Sheila (Dave) Rapp of Somonauk IL, Debbie (Alfonso Castaneda) Witmer of Oswego IL, Brenda Marmy of Plano IL, Angela (MaryAnn Pinks) Charlton of Yorkville IL, Gary (Ruth Anne) Charlton of Wellington CO.

Grandchildren- Ron (Cary) Allen of Hinckley IL, Tim (Melani) Murphy of Yorkville IL, Brandie Allen of Downers Grove IL, Steve (Amanda) Rud of Riverview FL, Robbie Rapp of Oswego IL, Chad (Jamie) Murphy of Sandwich IL, Lee Rud of Chicago, Trisha (Carl Thornton) Murphy of Aurora IL, Dawn (Nick) Lenhardt of Somonauk IL, Shawn (Angela) Michael of Sandwich IL. As well as 17 great-grandchildren to carry on the legacy of the family.

She was preceded in death by her parents Tom and Hazel, her husband Rufus, one grandchild David Lee Rapp Jr, and two great-grandchildren Caitlyn and Caden Thornton. 

The Charlton family extends a very special thanks to APEX Hospice and Palliative Care Inc out of Oak Brook, and Symphony at The Tillers in Oswego, for their help and loving care of Barb. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations to APEX Hospice and Palliative Care Inc. Oak Brook, IL.

Visitation will be October 25^th, 2018 at the Harvest Chapel Church in Sandwich from 4:30 to 6pm. Service to immediately follow at 6pm. 

Cremation services were entrusted to Beverage Family Funeral Home in Sandwich, IL.
