Angela E. Paulus, 89, of Sandwich, IL, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2026. Angela was born on September 21, 1936, in Morris, IL, to John and Angel (Pfeffer) Kasten. She was their only daughter and grew up alongside her four brothers.
She married Robert “Bob” Paulus in 1964, and together they shared a lifelong love and partnership until his passing. Angela was a devoted member of St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church in Sugar Grove, IL.
She dedicated her life to caring for others. She worked as a registered nurse at Mercy Hospital in the 1960s, as well as with the VNA and Dreyer Medical Clinic. Later, she served as a teacher’s aide in the Sandwich School District and cared for Kristina for many years.
Angela lived in Aurora before spending several years in Arkansas, eventually returning to Illinois to be closer to her family. She found joy in traveling, drawing, and, in recent years, spending her days at “daycare” at FVOA, where she formed many meaningful friendships.

She is also survived by her brother, Fran, along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bob Paulus; her son-in-law, Mark Janiak; and her brothers, William, Jerry, and Richard.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Angela’s honor to Fox Valley Older Adults (FVOA) or Voluntary Action Center (VAC) or the American Red Cross.
