Jean Swanson

Jean A. Swanson, 87, of Ashton passed away January 28, 2010 at Swedish American Hospital. Jean was born Sept. 26, 1922 in Manlius, IL., the daughter of E.D. and Gladys VanOrmer. She married Jack Swanson March 31, 1946 in Manlius, IL. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Ashton. In 1943 she and her sister were two of the first women to graduate with degrees in accounting from The University of Illinois. She is survived by her husband, Jack of Ashton; son David, his wife Grace and their children Eric and Danielle all of Santa Ana, Ca.; son, Jay, his wife Lillian and their children, John, Sarah and David all of Medfield, Ma.; and a niece, Hillary Carlson of Bloomingdale, Il. Predeceased by one sister Lynn Carlson A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the Ashton Public Library P.O. Box 308, Ashton, IL. 61006
