Barbara Susan Liby

Barbara Susan Liby, 69, of Sandwich, IL, passed away on May 14th 2017. She was surrounded and comforted by her family. The funeral service will be held at 5:00pm on Wednesday, May 17th at Beverage Funeral Home Service. Rev. Wayne Derber of Salem Lutheran Church will be leading the service. Visitation will be held at 2:00pm to 5:00pm at the same location. She will be cremated following the ceremony. Barbara was born in Hazleton, PA on July 25th 1947 and graduated from Tom’s River High School. She was married to Dennis on September 3rd, 1966 when they moved to Elmwood Park to begin their life in the suburbs of Chicago. Happily married for more than 50 years, Barbara was deeply focused on providing a happy, loving and caring home for family and friends. Barbara managed the family business for 10 years and worked as an administrative assistant for the Radiological Society of North America for 17 years. She cherished the friendships she made throughout her professional career and they were an important part of her life; her compassion and empathy for others made friendship with Barbara natural and fulfilling for everyone who was part of her life. She was actively involved in the church volunteering her energies for the benefit and welfare of others. Barbara regularly spent her time enhancing others’ lives by supporting the organizations important to her children. Her passion for reading was second only to the love she had for her family and friends. Barbara is survived by her devoted and loving husband Dennis, her children Karyn Brown (husband Michael), Jennifer Alvey-Dzierzynski (husband John) and Jonathan Liby (wife Erin), her father Hugh Bringenberg, her siblings Bonnie, Ken, John, and Kathy, her grandchildren Craig, Robert, Ashton, Rachel, Connor, Keaton and Mia and her great-grandchildren Braxton and Avelyn, and many other family and friends. They will all miss her dearly and cherish the memories and positive impact Barbara’s love had on their lives. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Somonauk Public library can be sent to 700 E. LaSalle St, Somonauk, IL 60552 c/o Julie 815-498-2440. The donations will be used to perpetuate Barbara’s love of literature.
