Carol Ruth Gowdy

Carol Ruth Gowdy, 63 of Sandwich, IL. passed away on August 18, 2016 at Joliet Area Community Hospice in Joliet. She was born on February 13 1953 in Sandwich, IL. to George and June (Greenwood) Gordon. She married Thomas Gowdy on March 20, 1993 in Somonauk, IL. She played in the high school band and graduated from Sandwich High School in 1971. She loved to do cross stitching and any kind of needlework. She was a member of the Federated Church in Sandwich and past member of the Somonauk Presbyterian Church and sang in their Church choir. She was a preschool teacher for 20 years, 15 years as a Para Educator in Sandwich. She is survived by her husband Thomas, a brother Roger (Carol) Gordon of Plainfield, IL, 2 nieces, Jodi (Edgar) Guzman and Ellen Gordon, 2 nephews, Tim (Sara) Gordon and Jeff (Rose) Gordon. She is preceded in death by her parents and Brother David (Beverley) Gordon. Visitation will be held August 26th 2016 from 4-8 p.m. at the Beverage Family Funeral Home Sandwich, IL. Memorial service will be held August 27th 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Federated Church 403 N Main St Sandwich, IL. with a one hour visitation prior to the service.
