Donald Gerald Maciejewski

Donald G. Maciejewski 80, of Sandwich passed away May 12th 2016 at Hillside Health Care Yorkville, IL. He was born on June 6th 1935 in Chicago, IL to the late George and Emily ( Prazak ) Maciejewski . Don and his brother George grew up in Lisle where he grew up and graduated from Downers Grove North High School Class of 1953 where he play and excelled in football. Don did his apprenticeship as a butcher at National T grocery store and went on to Jewel and retired from there. Don married ( Barbara Hutchinson) and together they raised their 2 set of twin girls and his infantson Donald Jr. in a new community called Woodridge, IL. He worked there as a part time police officer protecting their new home and community. Don loved his girls and his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Don and Barbara divorced, Don went on and married Delora B. Welch in 1977 in Lisle, IL. She preceded him in death 2009. He enjoyed watching the Chicago Bears and Cubs, he was hoping for a World Series winner this year. He was a faithful member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church. When Don and Dee retired they moved to the lake of the Ozark in Lynn Creek MO. he loved to fish and boating. He woodworked, and was a Private Pilot, and built large model airplane that he flew with the grand kids. He is survived by his daughters; Karen (John) Peters of Woodridge, Sharon ( Jeff ) Beverage of Sandwich, Karol ( Ron ) Poat of Plano and Kathy ( Phil ) Lane of Plano. His sister in law Ella Maciejewski of Hot Springs, AR. his special friend Sheryl Bryant of Sandwich. ( grandchildren; Krissy Halmagyi, Michele ( Kyle) Kee, Bryan ( Stephanie ) Halmagyi, Dana ( Ben ) Estes and Donny ( Kristen ) Poat, Cory Peters , Dan Peters, Shelby( Nick Minnis ) Miller, Andrew Beverage, David ( Rebecca ) Gordon and Steven Krzykowski. 7 great grandchildren; Austin, Ethan, Morgan, Norah , Camron , Malayah, Emma and soon to arrive Lena. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Dee, son Donald Jr. and brother George. Funeral services will be held Monday May 16th 2016 at 11a.m. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church 2465 W. Sandwich Rd. Sandwich, IL. with Rev. David Kaul officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday May 15th 2016 from 4-7 p.m. at the Beverage Family Funeral Home 104 Terry Street Sandwich, IL. In lieu of flowers memorials maybe directed to Our Saviors Lutheran Church Interment will be held later at Oak Ridge Cemetery Sandwich, IL. www.beveragefamilyfh.com
