James Dean Ashby

James D. Ashby 84, of Spring Valley ,IL. passed away August 29, 2015 at OSF St. Francis Medical Ctr. Peoria, IL surrounded by his loving wife and children. He was born on November 25, 1930 to the late Ralph and Irene (Muzzy) Ashby in Marengo, IA. He served his country proudly with the US Army during the Korean War in Germany before finishing is education at The University of Iowa. His greatest joy in life was his family. Two of his happiest memories were taking to his grandchildren to Disney World and enjoying his time with his favorite dog Goober. He is survived by his loving wife Donna, his daughters Robin ( Roger) Stacks of sandwich and Vicki ( Peter ) Fitzpatrick of Spring Valley , his son James ( Amy ) Ashby of Plano. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Wendy (Troy), Jessica ( Kevin ) and Sara ( Brian ) and his great grandchildren; Austin, Clayton, Dylan and Baylee. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother; Ralph Ashby III and his grandson Nicholas Ashby. Celebration of his life will be held August 22, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the United Church of Christ in Spring Valley.
