Oweta Faye ( Burke ) Neuhauser, 92 of Sandwich passed away peacefully Wednesday December 31, 2014 in her Ironwood Estates apartment. She was born in Charleston,AR. on December 14, 1922, the daughter of Joe and Bertha Burke. She graduated from Greenwood High School in Greenwood, AR. She attended Business College in Ft. Smith, AR. She met Joe Neuhauser, who at the time was stationed at Ft. Chaffee, AR. and they were married on February 5, 1944. After WWII ended they settled in Sandwich and raised their 3 daughters. Her greatest passion was being a stay at home mom to care for her family. She was happiest working in her kitchen. She sewed cloths for her girls which also included sewing matching outfits for their dolls. Oweta regularly gave her daughters Toni Home Permanents which came with paper dolls to cut out to entertain the recipient receiving the perm. Oweta was a faithful room mother to all through the elementary grades. After all her daughters started school, she worked as a clerk at Hanson’s Meat Market and also P.S. Linder & Co. doing bookkeeping. Another passion was discovered when she began her career as a Nurse’s Aid at Sandwich Community Hospital for 18 years. She was a comforting care-giver and approached her duties with common sense. After she retired she spent many years as a volunteer at the Hospital. She is preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband of 70 + years who died on September 5, 2014. Her sister Wilma Van Meter, her brother Graden Burke and her great grandchild Amelia Grace Johnson. She is survived by her daughters; Nancy Jo ( Norman ) Otto.
